it's about our favorite series here:
Now once you have read her post and you have finished this "trilogy" (ohhh it hurts to say that!) than lets have a chat about the "Spoiler-y discussion"
**********************************SPOLER ALERT********************************
I really agree with Jen's choice, I honestly don't see how the story arc could be continued. It's technically not possible and would make for a super boring story. To make it happen, you would have to pick a new plot.....how can you take the kind of ending Taken By Storm had and make another. If someone can answer that question please inform Jen, but I don't think there is one.
One of Jen's reasons really struck me, it is a trilogy about a human girl. And many people may argue that they really wanted to see Bryn's wolf, but I can argue back, you did see Bryn's wolf. In Trial By Fire, in a couple dreams Bryn finds herself facing an obviously female wolf, she calls out to her, and they are steps away. Just before they can touch, before Bryn can reach her, the dream shifts and the beautiful wolf is gone. Archer, who's spying on Bryn's dream also comments on the mysterious female wolf. Bryn wakes up and Archer draws the wolf on the wall. This is Bryn's wolf. The symbolic dream shifting is Bryn's incapability to reach her other half. Bryn's wolf is really beautiful, and the thought of it makes me very sad that Chase's wolf never gets to meet hers. Taken By Storm's final words "He lept." are emblazoned in my mind, the aftermath is Bryn finally reaching her beautiful wolf that has always been her. Always.
When Jen says that "the series is about Bryn coming of age in the Werewolf world" I find that completely true. Bryn is a kind of stone hard adult by the end of Taken By Storm. She looses Chase, the ultimate heart hardening moment. Who isn't forever changed by seeing their love's heart ripped out from their chest by your arch enemy? I have to come to accept this but she needed to be grown up to be a Were.....How is it right that all she ever wanted (Wolf) could be only received through loss of her mate......her other half.... I am almost sad to see her humanity go................almost. Bryn kisses it goodbye...... She doesn't take too long to do so but you still notice her slight pause, she holds onto the final moment.
And to go off topic here for a moment, how many of you let out a sigh of tears when she dressed in her rattiest clothes and pretended it was a normal day, and Ali asks where she's going......ohhh.......How many of you would give close to anything to see Ali's reaction to Bryn's Change. For the whole Pack's reaction? Would they all react to the pain they felt through the bond? Would they race there to find her being mauled by Callum? Would Callum stick around for when they got there? Would it bring in the peripherals? How would Chase have reacted if he was still alive?
I don't know about all of you, but I want this unwritten chapter.

That was too much of a cliffhanger!! If thare's no fourth book then my copy of Taken by Storm must be missing a few pages right?!?!?! :*(
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately that was the last book. And the last book. was quite disappointed. But at the same time I feel like its a good place to end. We know calling fulfills his promise, she's still alpha, and everything is still wrong but nothing is fixable. Nothing can be undone. So I have a respect for
